Six-year-old boy dies after two-vehicle crash in Queensland’s Scenic Rim
A six-year-old boy from Beaudesert has died in hospital four days after a two-vehicle crash at Gleneagle, near Beaudesert. Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with dashcam footage to come forward.
Child dies after Gleneagle crash
A six-year-old boy has died following a serious two-vehicle crash in Queensland’s Scenic Rim.
Emergency services were called to the intersection of Gould Hill Road and the Mount Lindesay Highway at Gleneagle, near Beaudesert, just after 2pm on Monday.
Police said initial investigations indicated a Subaru Impreza and a Nissan Qashqai collided at the intersection at about 2:14pm.
Boy airlifted with life-threatening injuries
The six-year-old Beaudesert boy was travelling in the Nissan.
He was airlifted to hospital with life-threatening injuries, but police confirmed he died today.
The driver of the Nissan, a 56-year-old Gleneagle woman, and a second passenger, a 13-year-old girl, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and were also taken to hospital.
The driver of the Subaru, a 52-year-old Beaudesert man, was not physically injured.
Forensic Crash Unit investigates
Queensland Police said the Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances of the collision.
Investigators are appealing for any witnesses, or anyone with relevant dashcam footage from the area at the time of the crash, to contact police.
The fatal crash has added to concern around serious collisions on regional roads, particularly at high-speed intersections where local traffic and highway vehicles meet.
Community in mourning
The death of a six-year-old child has left the Scenic Rim community in shock.
Police have not released the child’s name.
The investigation remains ongoing.
